Sherry Chin
Education
Sherry was born and raised in Michigan. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 1973, Beta Gamma Sigma. She received her law degree from the University of Michigan in 1975.
Professional Affiliations
Sherry is a member of the State Bar of Michigan; the Washtenaw County Bar Association; the Women Lawyers Association; the Michigan Council For Family and Divorce; the Association For Conflict Resolution; the Collaborative Law Institute of Michigan, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
Professional Activities
Sherry is a past president of the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and a past chair of the Friend of the Court Liaison Committee and the Real Estate Section. She chaired the committee for review of sitting judges. She also served as chair of the State Bar regional committee for character and fitness. Sherry is enrolled as a Fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
Sherry is a frequent speaker on divorce, collaborative divorce, mediation, and using technology. She has been a speaker for the American Bar Association, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and The Institute of Continuing Legal Education. She is a contributing editor to The Institute of Continuing Legal Education, QDROs, EDROs and Retirement Benefits (Ann Arbor, MI) and has contributed many legal forms to ICLE. She also serves on the Family Law Advisory Board to ICLE. She is a contributor to Katherine Salant, The Brand-New House Book (New York: Three Rivers Press, 2001).
